It’s definitely time to finalize your holiday wish list… and I have something I’m pretty excited about on mine – the new Lytro light-field camera. To start it is the coolest handheld camera I have ever seen – it looks like a slightly over-sized tube of lipstick with an ipod nano on one end. Yet the coolest part is that the light-field technology captures a 3-D image – the main advantage of this being that you can then focus your image AFTER taking it, using any macbook.
Not only is this a breakthrough in handheld and consumer technology – the Lytro is unique for its relevant marketing campaigns. The camera is beautiful, available in charcoal, turquoise, or red. Trolling the interactive website and blog, what stood out was a fashion shoot taken by a Lytro prototype with Coco Rocha in New York. The first fashion editorial taken in 3-D…..
Another positive? The camera isn’t a million dollars… models range from $399 to $499, and they are available to order now, and will ship within the U.S. in early January.
I’m hoping to find an ‘I owe you a Lytro’ note in my stocking!
